Emmylou M. Swartz, O.D., F.A.A.O, F.S.L.S
Dr. Swartz provides comprehensive eye care including examinations for glasses and contact lenses, acute care, and management of a wide range of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and dry eye disease. Dr. Swartz is also specially trained to fit scleral contact lenses for patients with irregular cornea conditions, including keratoconus, and severe dry eye disease.
Dr. Swartz attended Ripon College where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Biology and a minor in Anthropology. She then obtained her Doctorate of Optometry degree with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. During her optometric training, Dr. Swartz traveled across the country externing at a wide range of clinical sites, including a large ophthalmology practice in Iowa and VA medical centers in Vermont and Tennessee.
Dr. Swartz began her career at a private practice with offices in the Fox Valley. After getting married and moving to the Milwaukee area, Dr. Swartz worked at Wisconsin Vision for several years before she felt a calling to serve our nation’s veterans. She then transferred to the Milwaukee VA eye clinic where she has been providing comprehensive eye care to veterans for the past 14 years. She continues to practice at the VA part-time. Dr. Swartz is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Society.
When away from the office, Dr. Swartz enjoys spending time with her husband and children, gardening, hiking, cooking and cheering on her children at their various athletic activities.
